Orlando has a number of high-flying coasters in town, many of which can’t even crack the Top 10 that we have featured here. The Universal Orlando Resort has three of these top coasters alone; including the Incredible Hulk Coaster, Revenge of the Mummy and the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. Revolving around high speeds, they are uniquely different in their themes. Offering guests totally different experiences from one another. The same can be said for the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith, which stands apart as the best roller coaster at the Walt Disney World ® Resort. Its 0 to 60 mph blast-off and rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack that guests listen to as they zip along the indoor track.
Rock ‘n Roller Coaster® may be the top attraction at the Walt Disney World ® Resort. It is far from being the only ride at the Walt Disney World ® Theme Parks that draws large crowds. In fact, there are two other roller coasters that are part of the Walt Disney World ® famous mountain range that rank among the Top 10 rides in Orlando.
Space Mountain ® was one of the first coasters on property. An indoor coaster that travels through “space.” Expedition Everest ® is the newest roller coaster on property. It takes guests through a recreation of the Himalayas, in search of the Abominable Snowman! The Kilimanjaro Safaris ®, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom ® Theme Park, is another signature ride that takes guests through over 100 acres of African terrain. Come face-to-face with animals like never have before! If you are in to twists and turns, ups and downs, you are sure to find your cup of tea.
Orlando might attract thousands of tourists per year with its theme parks, but it is not the only destination, high-quality golf are also a favorite. Orlando can boast that it’s one of the world’s most renowned golf destinations, with many award-winning courses that are stops on the PGA Tour. Beginner or Pro, there is a course for you. Just bring your clubs – or rent them – and get ready to enjoy a scenic, memorable, and fun round at one of our recommended Orlando courses.
Among the city’s fantastic array of golf courses is one of the most recognizable in America, Bay Hill Golf Club. Known as the winter home and course of its owner, great American golfer Arnold Palmer. Bay Hill is ranked the fourth best golf course in Florida by Golfweek and is the annual home of the PGA’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. Here, players can match their skill against lush greens that have seen the likes of Tiger Woods and other pros on 27 holes. Spanning across 270 scenic lakeside acres. Bay Hill’s links will prove a challenging but fair test for pros and amateurs alike.
Another excellent course is actually not too far from Orlando’s famous theme parks – Disney’s Magnolia; a beautifully designed course scented with the perfume of 1,500 Magnolia trees. Also a stop on the PGA Tour, the 7,190-yard Magnolia is home to the Children’s Miracle Network Classic. It features a classic design that will throw nearly every challenge in the golf course bag at you. 97 bunkers are scattered throughout the course. Water comes into play on twelve holes. Amidst the course’s wide fairways and lush, rolling terrain, you’ll find yourself having a great time as you try to conquer all Magnolia’s hazards – including a Mickey-shaped sand-trap on the famed sixth hole.
One of Orlando’s other hot golf spots is also one of its biggest; at the 922-acre Orange County National Golf Center. Players will find a golfer’s paradise complete with two 18-hole championship courses, a 9-hole short course, the largest driving range, and practice facility in America. Golfers will play through wetlands, rolling meadows, and Scottish-inspired links on this incredibly well-maintained and challenging facility, which has something for players of every skill level.
Visitors to Orlando often forget that vacations aren’t merely about theme parks. Relaxation needs to play a role as well. Between theme park adventures and hours of sightseeing in Orlando, vacationers can enjoy some wonderfully indulgent “me” time at one of the city’s luxurious and pampering spas. Ranging from intimate to expansive, classic to nontraditional, European to Balinese, there’s a spa for every taste in Orlando. Each is ready to help you find solace and serenity in the midst of whatever excitement you have planned during your trip.
Looking for a foreign escape without actually having to leave the country? Head to the Mandara Spa at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel. A Balinese themed spa complete with its own meditation garden and “Meru” temple. Guests will soak in warm colors, rich wood accents, and exotic décor. Guests are pampered with a variety of beautifying and relaxing spa treatments at this tranquil retreat. You’ll feel all your stress drift away when you enjoy the spa’s specialty, a Balinese Massage. A Balinese uses a combination of aromatherapy, acupressure, pressure point, and traditional Balinese massage technique.
Perhaps ultra-lavish, extra-refined spas are more your style. If that’s the case, visit the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. Winner of the 2008 Mobil Four Star Award. This beautiful, well-equipped facility offers everything you need to refresh and rejuvenate your spirit. Offerings from a steam and sauna room to a Tea Relaxation Room.
The facilities of the Canyon Ranch Spa are its extensive and varied treatments, especially the signature service “Euphoria.” During this 100-minute massage and body treatment, guests receive a scalp massage, warm botanical body mask, and a revitalizing bath and full-body massage. If that doesn’t provide you with a sense of euphoria, nothing will!
This is just a sampling of what Orlando has to offer, however, so feel free to explore our Best Spas listings to discover the perfect and most relaxing escape for you. A visit to one of Orlando’s finest spas is sure to be one of the most memorable moments of your vacation.
Central Florida is not just a place for families and children anymore. The past several years the entertainment scene in Orlando has shifted. In the hopes of convincing guests that while Orlando is a great place for kids, it’s also a perfect getaway just for adults!
The theme parks may not immediately come to mind when you are thinking of Orlando’s Top 10 Nighttime Hot Spots. There are actually tons of things to do there at night, including night shows, fireworks displays and live entertainment. There are still plenty of things going on each and every night at Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district, the Downtown Disney ® area and Universal’s CityWalk!
Looking for live music? Orlando has two venues that deliver up some of the best live entertainment in the entire area. The House of Blues ® and Hard Rock Live, located at Downtown Disney ® West Side. The House of Blues ® has nightly live music playing both inside and out. Showcasing both up-and-coming and national recording artists in their intimate venue inside. The Hard Rock Live, at Universal Orlando Resort, plays to big names. Along with comedians who drop in to entertain the crowds.
The theme park district of Orlando isn’t the only hot spot for the adults-only crowd. Orlando’s International Drive is home to two more Top 10 spots, Pointe Orlando (a shopping, dining and entertainment complex) and Howl at the Moon (a dueling piano bar that gets the crowd into the action). Orlando’s famous dinner shows also get top billing, for their mixture of great entertainment and multi-course meals!
Central Florida will always be marketed as a place for families and kids. If there is one thing this Top 10 list proves, Orlando is not just a place for children anymore!
As you can clearly tell, Central Florida has it all! Thrills, themed rides and tons of unique attractions that you won’t find anywhere else in the world! If the Top 10 is any indication, just imagine what the rest of the attractions have to offer!
